When the heat is on, your material choice is critical. We specialize in the precision machining of high-performance polymers and advanced alloys that maintain their strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability in extreme thermal environments.
We offer a range of materials with high continuous service temperatures, low thermal expansion, and excellent mechanical performance under heat.
The Gold Standard for High-Temp Plastics. PEEK offers an exceptional continuous service temperature of up to 250°C (482°F). It maintains its excellent mechanical properties and chemical resistance even at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for aerospace, medical (sterilization), and semiconductor applications.
High Strength with Thermal Resistance. Ultem provides a high continuous service temperature of around 170°C (338°F). It combines this with high strength, rigidity, and inherent flame retardancy, making it a top choice for aerospace interior parts and electrical connectors.
Unmatched Temperature Range. While not as strong as PEEK, PTFE has an incredibly wide operating temperature range, from cryogenic levels up to 260°C (500°F). Its chemical inertness also remains stable at high temperatures, perfect for seals and insulators in harsh environments.
Lightweight Strength at High Temperatures. Titanium alloys like Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) retain a significant portion of their strength at elevated temperatures up to 400°C (752°F) and beyond, far surpassing aluminum. This makes it essential for jet engine components and high-performance automotive parts.
Cost-Effective High-Temp Performance. Many grades of stainless steel, such as 316L and 17-4 PH, exhibit good strength and excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures, making them a reliable choice for exhaust components, heat exchangers, and industrial tooling.
The Superalloy for Extreme Heat. For the most extreme applications, we can produce parts from Nickel-based superalloys like Inconel via our DMLS 3D printing service. These materials are designed for jet engine and turbine applications operating at extreme temperatures.
High-temperature materials are often tough, abrasive, and have low thermal conductivity, making them challenging to machine. Our 13+ years of experience have equipped us with the right strategies and tooling to master them.
| Challenge | Jucheng's Solution |
|---|---|
| Low Thermal Conductivity (in PEEK & Titanium) | We use specialized sharp tooling to minimize heat generation and high-pressure through-spindle coolant systems to effectively evacuate heat from the cutting zone, preventing material melting or tool failure. |
| High Abrasiveness & Toughness (in Inconel & Titanium) | We utilize advanced carbide cutting tools with specific coatings designed for these materials. Our robust, high-torque CNC machines and rigid setups are essential to handle the high cutting forces without chatter. |
| Maintaining Tight Tolerances | We understand the thermal expansion properties of each material. By machining in a climate-controlled environment and employing specific "cool-down" steps during the process, we can ensure the final part is dimensionally accurate at its intended operating temperature. |
